Bryan Ventura-Ramirez is facing a manslaughter charge and life without his best friend, after his attorney said he accidentally shot that friend - 17-year-old Robin Moscoso-Hernandez.

It happened Saturday night on Francine Avenue in Amityville.

Police said Ventura-Ramirez shot the victim once in the chest.

“He shot his best friend. And he’s distraught and he’s upset about the whole thing," the defendant’s lawyer, Gregory Grizopoulos, told reporters.

The prosecutor said the gun did not have a serial number and appeared to have been created from a 3D printer.

Grizopoulos said, “It’s my understanding that the two of them were handling the firearm when it went off. I don’t believe there was a magazine in it, either. It was literally believed to be unloaded and there was one [bullet] left inside of it without the magazine, one in the chamber supposedly.”

Bail was set at $100,000 cash or $300,000 bond.
