Two nurses aides at a Medford nursing home were arrested Wednesday, accused of knowingly mistreating a patient.
Court papers say the case involves the care of a woman with fragile skin. According to documents, Medford Multicare Center employees Letisha Virgil-Green, of Brentwood, and Nicholle Stumpf, of Mastic, were required to use a mechanical lift whenever transporting the patient between her wheelchair and bed. The facility says video surveillance cameras showed the women failing to use the equipment.
Virgil-Green and Stumpf are the ninth and 10th Medford Multicare Center aides to be arrested for abusing patients in seven months. Previous cases of alleged abuse were captured on cameras placed in the facility by the state Attorney General?s Office as part of an investigation.
Attempts to reach anyone at the nursing home for comment were unsuccessful.
