Mobile COVID-19 testing site opens at Stony Brook University

Officials have opened two more coronavirus mobile testing sites on Long Island – one in the southwest corner of Stony Brook University.

Like the Jones Beach testing site, residents must call the state hotline and make an appointment first.

Health officials say once someone is given an appointment time and they arrive, they will be guided to one of six stations where they'll answer some questions and be tested.

In addition to Stony Brook, a private drive-through site opened in Jericho for ProHEALTH patients.

Bonnie Simmons, a ProHEALTH Urgent Care chairperson, says testing takes 10-15 minutes and is done right in patients' cars.

The CDC criteria for being tested remains strict as of Thursday, but officials say they do not expect it will stay that way.

The sites at both Jones Beach and Stony Brook will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

To make an appointment you must call the state's coronavirus hotline at 1-888-364-3065.
