Officials: Large mulch fires in Calverton, Melville under control; no injuries reported

Officials say two large mulch fires reported this morning in Suffolk County in Calverton and Melville are now under control. 
The first fire broke out around 12:58 a.m. near Middle County Road in Calverton.
A total of 12 departments were on the scene fighting the fire. No injuries have been reported and the fire is under control. 
Meanwhile, a brush fire broke out in Melville around 2:30 a.m. off Old East Neck Road, according to officials.
A total of six departments were on the scene in Melville. The fire is also now under control. No injuries have been reported.
As News 12 has reported, the drought level on Long Island has been elevated to severe for the past week.
