A small plane crashed into the waters of the Long Island Sound in Shoreham Sunday.
The plane went down around 1:30 p.m. off the coast of a private community beach, below the home-dotted bluffs in the area of Soundview Drive.
Police say there were two occupants on board. Both were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, and officials say they are expected to be OK.
Their identities have not yet been released.
The FAA says the pilot of the Beech BE36 had reported engine trouble before the crash, although the exact cause remains unclear.
Chopper 12 video from the scene showed the plane submerged in the water beside a large rock.
Authorities say the plane's two occupants were able to escape the wreckage and cling to the rock until emergency crews arrived by boat to rescue them.
The FAA says it is investigating the crash.
