Police say two East Hampton camp directors have been charged with running an illegal staffing house.

Inspectors say a single-family home on Ocean Boulevard was illegally crammed with 25 counselors working at Hampton Country Day Camp. Inside the house, the town says four bedrooms were converted to eight, air conditioners were blocking required fire-escape windows and smoke detectors were missing.

The building's owners, David Skolnick, of Plainview, and Doris Rosen, of Jericho, now face 61 code violations, according to East Hampton. They are also the directors of the camp.

Town officials say they are also investigating two additional homes managed by Skolnick and Rosen, who may face additional charges.
