Two more COVID-19 testing sites are opening today in Suffolk County in areas that have seen recent spikes in the number of new cases.
Both sites are at HRHCare Community Health locations in the Town of Babylon.
One is in Wyandanch at 1556 Straight Path, and the other is in Amityville at 1080 Sunrise Highway.
The focus for new testing sites on Long Island is minority communities, as they seem to be getting hit the hardest by coronavirus, officials say.
Suffolk County says it is working with religious and community groups to get the word out and get more people tested.
"The numbers are not spiking because Latinos are doing anything wrong, they're spiking because that's part of what happens in our community when you have a working class of people that doesn't have the same access to be able to stay home or work from home or live off of their nest egg for a little while," says Minerva Perez, OLA of Eastern Long Island.
Both of the testing sites are open from 10 a.m. 3 p.m. and appointments are required.
