Today 13 foster children were adopted in Nassau County.
The children were adopted on National Adoption Day at a ceremony at Long Island Children's Museum in Garden City.
It marked the 12th year that Nassau's Department of Social Services and Nassau Family Court observed National Adoption Day.
The day calls attention to kids trapped in the child welfare system.
Nassau officials say more kids should be "freed" from foster care and given loving homes.
