12-year-old girl hit by SUV in Massapequa

A child was hit by a vehicle when crossing the street in Nassau County on Tuesday night.

The 12-year-old girl is in stable condition after she was struck by a 2024 Acura SUV in Massapequa, police say.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. on Carman Mill Road near Oakley Street and caused the roadway to be shut down for hours.

Detectives tell News 12 the 75-year-old driver remained at the scene.

The identity of the girl has not been released at this time.

Nassau police say the investigation is ongoing.
