10 baby ducklings rescued from storm drain in West Islip, reunited with mother

An employee at a medical office on Montauk Highway noticed the mallard frantically circling the drain and was able to hear the ducklings below.

The West Islip Fire Department helped a mother mallard reunite with her ducklings that were trapped in a storm drain Tuesday morning.
An employee at a medical office on Montauk Highway noticed the mallard frantically circling the drain and was able to hear the ducklings below.
The fire department arrived, removed the drain cover and retrieved the 10 ducklings from the 5-foot-deep drain.
The babies were quickly reunited with their clearly excited mother.
