1 dead, 8-year-old in critical condition after multi-vehicle crash in Brooklyn

A 67-year-old grandmother is dead, and an 8-year-old boy is in critical condition after a driver went on a reckless rampage in Bed Stuy, police say.
According to authorities, the suspected driver was trying to get away from police at the time of the incident. Officers say it all started after they noticed the driver's car had mismatched plates.
At around 7 p.m. Saturday, an officer noticed the car's plates and two men in the vehicle allegedly smoking marijuana. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle at Ralph Avenue and Chauncey Street, but it sped off at high speed. Officers say the driver struck a bicyclist and two pedestrians at the corner of Ralph Avenue and Macon Street.
The car kept going and allegedly hit another pedestrian and a vehicle. Two of those victims were the 67-year-old grandmother who was killed and the 8-year-old boy who suffered severe head injuries.
The other three pedestrians that were hit are expected to make full recoveries.
As for the two occupants in the vehicle, one is in custody and the other remains on the loose. No charges have been filed yet and police are asking the community to call CrimeStoppers with any information.
