One man is dead and another injured after a fire broke out Thursday at a home in Freeport.Fire officials say the blaze started on the second floor of the Randall Avenue home. More than 100 firefighters from the Freeport, Baldwin and North Merrick fire departments were needed to battle the fire.Officials say the smoke detectors at the home were not working. It is the third fire this month in Nassau County where officials say smoke detectors were not working.The deceased man has been identified as 51-year-old Jeanmarie Rosalbert. Firefighters found him in cardiac arrest. He was later pronounced dead at South Nassau Community Hospital. A 79-year-old man who was also at the home received minor injuries. Officials say the man fell down the stairs trying to escape the blaze.Fire officials are investigating the fire, but say it appears the blaze may have been caused by a space heater.
