All southbound lanes of I-87 in Yonkers remained closed Friday night as of 10 p.m. following a two-vehicle crash.

Police say it happened just after 7:15 p.m. south of Clark Street.

A vehicle occupied by two adults and one child overturned, trapping them inside, according to detectives.

Yonkers Police Emergency Service Unit and the Yonkers Fire Department successfully extricated the occupants from the vehicle.

Police say the two adults suffered moderate injuries, and the child whose age was not immediately known suffered serious injuries.

They were all taken to the hospital where they were in stable condition as of Friday night.

The second vehicle involved was occupied by one adult driver who suffered minor injuries. The driver was also taken to the hospital in stable condition.

It was not immediately clear what caused the accident or how long the road closure would last.

Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes.
