Yaphank woman gets up to 12 years in prison for DWI crash that killed senior

Prosecutors say Melissa Koprowski was drunk when she crashed head-on with an SUV on Middle Country Road last year.

A Yaphank woman has been sentenced to up to 12 years in prison for a crash that killed a grandmother in Middle Island.

Melissa Koprowski pleaded guilty to manslaughter and DWI in October.

Prosecutors say she was drunk when she crashed head-on with an SUV on Middle Country Road last year.

The passenger in the SUV, 75-year-old Esther Guy was killed in the incident.

The driver and a 2-year-old also sustained injuries.
