Debbie Tymon, the New York Yankees senior vice president of marketing, has worked for the Yankees for 39 seasons. From the ticket office to the Yankees front office, she believes in leading by example.
"I believe in being in the trenches and I don't think that there's any job anywhere in this building that employees shouldn't step up to do," she says.
Tymon and her team make sure the stands are packed, the stadium is filled with noisy excitement and that kids are the focus. Promotional giveaways and on-field ceremonies are a large part in how she helps make game day special for fans.
"A player tribute, an old timer's day, a moment of silence on the scoreboard. I am my own litmus test. If when that event unfolds in front of me, if it doesn't make me cry, then I haven't done a good job," Tymon explains.
Philanthropy is also crucial to the work Tymon does. The team hosts monthly pop-up food pantries, holiday drives and projects for wounded warriors. She also says helping tackle food insecurity in the Bronx is essential.
"Whether it's a school that needs clothing for students, iPads for their classes, books for their library. We fund all the major food programs in the city of New York," Tymon says.
