Police say a woman was fatally shot in Middle Island on Sunday.
According to police, a call came in from an apartment on Artist Lake Drive around 11:30 a.m.
"The call was for a female shot. She was taken to Stony Brook hospital where she was pronounced dead. It's very early in the investigation. And we're asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers," said: Det. Lieutenant Kevin Beyrer.
There are no details on the victim or how she died.
