A woman was brutally attacked during a knifepoint robbery in a Deer Park department store parking lot.
According to police, Elyse Pattinger was about to enter her car in the parking lot of Kohl's around 5:14 p.m. Friday while she was talking to her husband on her cell phone when she was grabbed from behind. Police says the assailant covered Pattinger?s eyes, put a knife to her neck and forced her into the car.
Police say Pattinger was struggling with the suspect when he tried to force her into her car. They say during that time he beat her and threatened to kill her. Pattinger?s husband heard the struggle on the phone and called 911. Police say Pattinger rolled out of her car and the suspect rolled on top of her.
According to police, Pattinger continued to fight against her attacker and he fled on foot. She says despite her screams, none of the people around helped her until the attack was over.
Police found the suspect, 36-year-old Carlton Frierson, of Deer Park, hiding behind a dumpster across the street. Frierson, who is currently on parole for robbery, was charged in the attack.
