A Mastic man who was killed by a bow and arrow this weekend is being called a hero Monday after witnesses say he may have given his own life to protect a little girl. Juan Carlos Munoz, 27, was shot in front of a home on Monroe Street. Witnesses say Munoz saved the life of a 3-year-old girl by shielding her from the arrow. Police were able to track down the vehicle seen fleeing the scene and arrested Thomas Sirico, 34. Sirico lives at the address where Munoz was shot. Sirico was arraigned on second-degree murder charges and is being held without bond.
