An overnight storm felled trees, blocked roads and left thousands in the dark before blowing out of the region Thursday morning.
Northport resident John Driscoll says the wind toppled several 100-year-old trees in his front yard, pinning his car where it was parked.
A few doors down, neighbor Greg Costa says wind tore the gutters off his house.
When the wind let up in the morning, there were up to 33,000 outages on Long Island, according to officials.
They say the towns of North Hempstead, Oyster Bay and Huntington were the hardest hit.
The number to report outages and downed lines is 1-800-490-0075.
