Westchester DA: Yonkers man sentenced 1 1/3 to 4 years in prison for fatal June 2023 hit-and-run

Authorities say Joseph Delgado was driving in the area of Executive Boulevard at Nepperhan Avenue when he struck 78-year-old Azhar Jamil Said, of Yonkers, who was crossing the busy road.

A Yonkers man is headed to prison in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that happened June 2023.

Joseph Delgado, 25, was sentenced from one and a third to four years in prison, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.

Delgado was driving in the area of Executive Boulevard at Nepperhan Avenue when he struck 78-year-old Azhar Jamil Said, of Yonkers, who was crossing the busy road.

Said died at an area hospital.

The vehicle fled the scene.

Delgado and the Jeep Grand Cherokee were located in a hotel in the Village Of Elmsford the next day.
