Two West Islip homeowners say they gave a local contractor thousands of dollars for work on their houses, but the work remains unfinished.
Anthony Barbieri says he hired Felix Garcia, of LCA Custom Finishes, to complete painting, lighting and siding work on his garage. He handed over $8,600 — but says things quickly went south.
“The communication died down, the work died down, the people showing up to my house died down,” Barbieri told News 12.
As Garcia was working at Barbieri’s home, he approached a neighbor, Alan Rosenberg, and secured another job next door.
Rosenberg says he paid Garcia $9,600 in cash to replace wood on his back deck, but months later, the job remained unfinished.
News 12 attempted to reach Garcia for comment.
The attorney issued a statement, saying in part that the negative coverage “appears to have been spearheaded and orchestrated by a certain individual.”
News 12 obtained documents from the Suffolk County Department of Labor confirming Garcia is unlicensed.
There are also more than a dozen complaints against him, along with unpaid collections.
Garcia is listed on the Suffolk County Consumer Affairs “Wall of Shame.”
