Weather: Warmer temps on tap this week in wake of wintry blast
Parts of Long Island saw several inches of snowfall from Saturday night's winter storm, but Sunday's mild temperatures helped to quickly thaw and melt the accumulations.
News 12 meteorologists say last night's storm brought about 2-5 inches of wet, slushy snow to northern portions of Nassau and northwestern Suffolk. The South Shore saw lesser amounts of 1-3 inches, where there was more mixing with rain.
News 12 meteorologists say Sunday is seeing mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid-40s. Its breezy, with winds NW at 5-15 mph and some gusting to 25-35 mph possible.
Monday will see sunny skies in the morning, giving way to more clouds and rain by the afternoon. It will be warmer with highs in the upper-40s.
And get ready for weather whiplash. Tuesday and Wednesday will usher in warmer, spring-like weather, with temperatures reaching the low-60s.
