WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Strong to severe storms are moving south to north through NJ into the Hudson Valley right now. With thunderstorm activity west of Long Island this afternoon, I am not expecting much until later this evening and overnight. Showers and storms will slowly track east into tonight with the best chance for rain after 10 p.m. The biggest threat overnight will be heavy rain with the high humidity. Storms should clear by daybreak.
Any wet weather Tuesday will not be as widespread or as intense, most of Long Island will stay dry with some pop up showers and storms mostly late in the day. With warm and humid air in place, the main threat continues to be downpours and local street flooding.
Drier weather arrives Thursday and Friday with pop up showers and storms returning for the weekend. It looks like we finally break the pattern next week.
