Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Sam Augeri says showers and thunderstorms could bring heavy rain tonight.
A flood advisory is in effect for southwest Suffolk County until 11 p.m. Quick and heavy rain could cause minor flooding in areas such as Islip, Brentwood, Medford, Ronkonkoma and Patchogue.
WHAT'S NEW: There are currently no alerts for Long Island and rainfall is trending a little bit later this evening. We have showers in Eastern Suffolk right now but most of the rain will happen between 9pm and 2am with the chance for heavy downpours. The thunderstorm threat is diminishing.
WHAT'S NEXT: Nice weather tomorrow before another round of showers and some storms on Wednesday. I have Wednesday highlighted for Weather to Watch right now. A look ahead to the weekend and it looks nice with showers arriving later Sunday night.
OVERNIGHT: Mostly cloudy with showers and possibly a thunderstorm through 3 a.m. Drying out by sunrise with lows near 60 degrees. Southeast to southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Sunrise: 5:20.
TUESDAY: Morning clouds give way to afternoon sun. Nice and warm with highs near 77. West wind 5 to 15 mph. Sunset: 8:25
TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy and mild with lows near 60. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny with the chance for showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. Highs near 74. Lows near 58.
THURSDAY: Nice and warm with sun and clouds. Highs near 78. Lows near 59.
FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy with the chance of showers. Highs near 75. Lows near 59. Showers taper off at night.
