A new record high for today of 78 degrees was set at Long Island MacArthur Airport. The previous high was 71, reach in 1991 and 2010.
WHAT'S NEW: We smashed the previous record high temperature today! Islip airport hit 78 degrees and that beats 71 set in 2010. A very warm day for this time of year and the arrival of rain is now scheduled to be later. Expect showers and maybe a thunderstorm between 8 p.m. and midnight.
WHAT'S NEXT: Drier weather returns tomorrow with cooler temperatures through the start of the weekend. Next week will be amazing with sunshine and highs well above normal near 60 to 70 degrees.
