Residents in the Uniondale Water District have been told they can resume normal water usage after Monday?s water main break. Town of Hempstead officials say that test results for water contamination came back negative. Residents, however, are advised to let the water run for at least 10 minutes to get any sand or sediment out of the line. Uniondale officials say the break is one of the largest they have ever seen. The incident affected approximately 5,500 households, leaving many people with brown water or no water at all. Related article:
