Holiday shopping season is here, and with it comes a new list of the worst toys of the year.

World Against Toys Causing Harm (WATCH), a nonprofit seeking to help shoppers, put out a list of what it claims to be the 10 worst toys of 2020.

"We select toys that we think are good examples of the types of potential hazards that parents may run into this year while toy shopping," says Joan Siff. "And these are all toys that are for sale now either, you know, online or in stores."

Some toys on the list include Calico Critters Nursery Friends and the Star Wars Mandalorian Darksaber.

Siff says even toys that look harmless, like the nursery friends, have hair that's not adequately rooted. She says when it comes out, it can block a child's airway.

Experts say before putting any toy under the Christmas tree, they should be examined for hazards.

Gift givers should also check the packaging and warning labels.

"Beware of product descriptions that are inconsistent with the warnings and cautions on the toys themselves," Siff says.

WATCH says emergency rooms in America treat children with toy-related injuries every three minutes.
