A Wantagh family is raising money for their two daughters who have a rare genetic disorder.

The Lindquist family says they and 15 other impacted families need $3.8 million by Dec. 1 for the treatment.

Martin and Kathy Lindquist are raising money for a San Filippo treatment, a rare genetic disorder that affects the central nervous system. The treatment will help slow down the progression of the disorder.

Their two daughters, Kathy and Bridget, learnedabout their diagnoses three and a half years ago. Since then, they have been living life to the fullest and connected with other families while also learning about the disorder found in their children.

The families of 17 children hope to distribute the $3.8 million among 15 of those with the disorder.

A fundraiser will be held at Mulcahy's in Wantagh on Sunday, Nov. 30.

Sunday is National San Filippo day, and you can donate $16 to the cause on their GoFunMe page.
