Fatal bus crash aftermath: Retired Farmingdale teacher remembered at wake

A wake was held Monday for one of the victims of the Farmingdale school trip bus crash.
Beatrice Ferrari, known as the grandmother of the Farmingdale High School band, was remembered. Ferrari retired after more than 30 years as a history teacher, but still stepped in to chaperone on school trips.
Visitation hours for Ferrari will be held again Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at McCourt and Trudden Funeral Home in Farmingdale.
A funeral service will happen on Wednesday at St. Kilian Parish in Farmingdale.
Gina Pellettiere, who also passed away in the crash, will have visiting hours on Tuesday. Known as "Miss P, Pellettiere was the band director at the school for nearly 20 years.
Pellettiere's wake will be held at the South Chapel of the Massapequa Funeral Home in Massapequa Park from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Her funeral Mass is set for Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes in Massapequa Park.
One Farmingdale student, who had friends on the bus behind the one that crashed, says they witnessed a horrible scene.
"They saw everything happen, they saw all the kids come out of the bus - crying, screaming, all covered in blood," said Sabrina Monar.
A sea of green, one of the school's colors, is likely to be seen across Long Island on Tuesday. Students in Nassau County and Suffolk County have been asked to wear green in honor of the Farmingdale school community.
