Some bars have come up with a creative way to bring in customers and keep employees working - a virtual crawl!
The Virtual Bay Shore Bar Crawl involves the owners for Verde, Coastal Kitchen and Tap Room setting up a one-stop pickup or delivery every Saturday for food and drinks from all three places.
"They can come right up, their food is waiting, they don't have to wait too long," says Michael Nicholson, of the Tap Room. "If they don't feel comfortable doing that, we have someone to drop it off right at your doorstep."
The pandemic has forced restaurants and bars to only be open for takeout or delivery, causing many to completely shutter. But this virtual idea has saved these Main Street businesses.
"Without this it would be hard to keep the lights on," says the Tap Room's James Bonanno. "It's extremely difficult even with the crawl, so without them, I don't know how we'd be going."
To keep the feeling of a bar crawl going, they're also providing a live Facebook concert featuring local musicians.
