Organizations across Long Island that help veterans received funding for the work they do.
Representatives of 48 veterans' organizations received checks from the Long Island American Bikes for Awareness Training and Education (ABATE).
LI ABATE treasurer and Vietnam veteran Bill Quinn says with the pandemic, they are finding that the pandemic restrictions caused many veteran fundraisers to be canceled.
Pete Jepson represents the Patriot Guard Riders of New York, one of the organizations who received a check.
He says the veterans he represents will be grateful.
“We fix the cars for them if they need repairs,” Jepson says. “You get guys falling on hard times, so they need the help.”
Long Island ABATE has been raising money for veterans for more than 30 years.
