A plan by the New York State Department of Transportation to tear up the woods in Bronx Park and build a road has Van Nest residents frustrated.

The plan was to connect the NYPD highway patrol unit to the Bronx River parkway to a driveway for safer access, which would be built next to two residential buildings.

Some residents say neighbors were never consulted. After News 12's coverage in October, the New York State Department of Transportation responded with answers for residents.

In response to residents' feedback, NYSDOT said they are re-evaluating the design of the new NYPD access road to find a more equitable solution.
