Local leaders joined the Valley Stream Latino Society and the Latino Moms Connect organization and held a fundraising event Thursday to raise money for Hurricane Fiona victims.
"They can't afford generators,” says Maribel Canestro, of the Valley Stream Latino Society. “So these are the people that we’re representing here tonight that are the underserved that need resources."
The funds raised will benefit volunteer and professional network organizations like Lion’s Club House and Puerto Rico Rise Up.
