The United States Marine Corps entertained and educated students at Walt Whitman High School on Wednesday afternoon.
As part of the pre-holiday weekend celebration, students were treated to performances by the Drill Team and the Marine Corps Band.
Then, two military helicopters landed in front of the school. Students were able to check them out up close and even speak with the pilots themselves.
"There's a lot of myths about what the military is, what the Marine Corps is, and we're just showing them we're normal people just like them, we were high school graduates just like them,” said USMC Major Denny Graziosi.
With Memorial Day just days away, military and school leaders hope the students take one thing from this experience.
"Remembering the men and women who served in the armed forces. it's a degree of respect and understanding what we do every single day," said Walt Whitman Supervisor or Administrative Services Ken Costa.
