Hundreds of students in Port Washington rallied outside Wednesday to protest gun violence.
Schreiber High School's Dr. Kathryn Behr says the walkout was initiated by students and that the school is standing with them in support.
"We talk about school safety all the time and being able to show that we are all united together is an important way to make sure that we're safe in our schools," Behr says.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been 165 mass shootings reported in the United States this year.
