Former President Donald Trump spoke to thousands of his supporters Wednesday night at the Nassau Coliseum.

The Republican nominee came to the stage shortly after 7 p.m. to deliver his message to a capacity crowd inside the arena.

Many people who were waiting on line for hours hoping to get into the Coliseum for the rally were, instead, forced to watch the rally from large TV screens outside.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and police officials touted the readiness of the county ahead of the event on the heels of an apparent assassination attempt at one of the former president's golf courses on Sunday.

Police say a claim of explosives near the Trump rally was unfounded, and one person was being questioned. Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said in a statement, "Reports of explosives being found at the site are unfounded. There is a person who is being questioned who may have been training a bomb detection dog near the site. The individual with the bomb dog falsely reported explosives being found and that individual is currently being detained by police."

The rally did cause heavier traffic then usual in the area, and some nearby schools had early dismissals due to the event.
