The New York Supreme Court has given the OK for Donald Trump?s planned luxury catering hall at Jones Beach.
Trump and his developer began construction on Trump on the Ocean with a plan to build a large basement under the facility. The state then denied Trump special permission to build the basement because of concerns it was on a flood plain, prompting a lawsuit by the mogul.
The state Supreme Court ruled Thursday there wasn't evidence that a large basement would pose a danger to public safety. Trump tells News 12 Long Island the decision may open the door for him to go ahead with the original plan for the facility, instead of a scaled down version. He says it also allows him to seek $500 million in damages.
Opponents of the project maintain the legal battle over Trump on the Ocean is not over. A spokesman for state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo says an appeal is likely.
Litigation has delayed construction on Trump on the Ocean for two years.
