Two women were injured, one seriously, in a crash in Massapequa Tuesday evening, according to the Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joe Saladino.

Saladino says a vehicle with one female driver struck another vehicle with two women inside at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Hicksville Road.

A public safety official witnessed the accident and went to help. The woman who struck the vehicle with two females inside then stole the public safety vehicle and drove south down Hicksville Road.

The public safety vehicle was tracked and remotely turned off. Nassau County police arrested the woman who fled.

The two women in the other vehicle were transported to the hospital.
