Rocking the restaurant Riptides in Lindenhurst, the band “Time Traveling Trio” is playing an important show.

“Today we are partnered with the Long Island coalition for the homeless and they asked us to replenish their pantry," says Joseph Riotta, singer of the band.

The musical group is collecting food for the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless. People who came for a bite and to see the show dropped off nonperishable food for the pantry for the holidays.

The band is playing to benefit the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless, but they play a show once a month around Long Island benefiting a different nonprofit each time.

"They actually did it for my nursing home as well. We collected items for the ladies for Mother's Day, so it works out well. We support them, they support us and here we are to see them," says Paula Ann Calvagno, of Freeport.

The band says they don’t accept money, just donated food.

"We have a lot to be thankful for and it's very easy to give back a little bit to our community," says Riotta.

The Coalition says anyone can drop off food at Riptides in Lindenhurst even after the show. Donations can also be dropped at the Coalition's location in Amityville.
