Thruway Authority hears from public on possible toll hikes on Thruway, Cuomo Bridge

The public voiced their opinions during a hearing at the Palisades Mall regarding possible toll increases for the New York Thruway and Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.
It was the third public hearing on the issue of rate increases, which would begin in 2024 and last through 2027.
Commuters who take the bridge at least 20 times a month, as well as those who prove they are Rockland and Westchester residents would see the lowest increase for taking the Hudson River crossing, at 30 to 40 cents each year.
The steepest price would be for non-New York E-ZPass users, as well as those who pay tolls by mail with a single trip costing $13.56 in 2027.
The Thruway Authority says they need more money to address future projects, fund outstanding debt and provide service to drivers.
The Thruway Authority Board of Directors will decide on prices within the next year after hearing from the public. The last Thruway public hearing will happen virtually on June 5 at 4 p.m.
