Long Beach police notified Long Beach schools of a threat that they believed warranted a "lockout" at Long Beach High School as a precaution, Long Beach schools Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Gallagher said.
A school spokesperson said the lockout was being lifted at noon for all schools but the high school, with a modified lockout in place at the high school for the remainder of the day and a police presence through dismissal.
The spokesperson said students and staff would be permitted to enter the high school.
"Please know that all students and staff are safe," Dr. Gallagher said.
