Thousands honor 9/11 victims and fallen first responders at Tunnel to Towers 5K

The event in Manhattan retraced the final steps of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller through the Hugh Carey Tunnel to the Twin Towers.

Thousands of runners took part in the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run and Walk on Saturday to honor those who died on Sept. 11, 2001.

The event in Manhattan retraced the final steps of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller through the Hugh Carey Tunnel to the Twin Towers.

It also paid homage to the 343 FDNY firefighters, law enforcement officers and thousands of civilians who died on Sept 11.

Nicholas Dicaprio, 14, came in 8th place during the run. He is the first Long Island resident to place.
