Parents on average spend about $4,000 or more just on one activity and that cost goes up with the more kids you have and the more they are involved in.

So how can you save on equipment? Hand-me-downs, especially among siblings, are a good way to avoid buying news.

In addition, experts say check your area for stores like consignments where they sell used sporting goods at deeply discounted prices, or online sites like Sidelineswap.com.

If you have to buy new equipment, check with your local sporting goods store to see if they offer coupons or discounts to town residents.

While it is costly and seems impossible to juggle, it’s important to remember kids should be having fun.

For children not enrolled in school yet, check to see if your town has any free or discounted trial classes for activities.

Or ask friends with similar aged children to join in a backyard activity to split the cost.

Lastly, check Facebook Marketplace for used equipment, instruments or gear that could help offset the cost.
