We all know too well that energy costs, especially fuel, are costing a small fortune.
Caleb Silver from Investopedia.com says household energy costs, the energy we use to heat and cool our homes, are up 26.1%. Now that summer is here, we need to cut corners any way we can.
When it comes to lowering your utility bills and in turn, saving money, a home energy audit is a good way to go. About the best way to do that is to consult a professional.
PSE&G offers a free audit that takes 45 minutes to an hour to complete. Jorge Marcone, of Highland Park, told News 12 that a professional checked out his thermostat, boiler and the light bulbs in his home to make sure all were running as efficiently as possible.
Most energy companies offer similar programs that are free and will save you money in the long run.
