The East End: Meat’s Meat in Mattituck

It's about that time of year again where barbecuing becomes a routine joy for many of us.
News 12’s Doug Geed went to a place in Mattituck that does the barbecuing for you.
Larry Mondello is a certified welder, he built smokers from scratch to help service his other passion – smoking meats.
Mondello opened a takeout restaurant last year, which bears his nickname, Meat’s Meat.
“Meat's Meat was given to me about 15, 20 years ago by another cook. He told me I was thick and juicy and he just called me Meat,” said Mondello.
The proteins served up at the restaurant include Mondello’s signature ribs, brisket, along with a sandwich that usually sells out. “Our most popular item as a special would be our pastrami sandwich or pastrami by the pound,” says Mondello. There’s plenty of sides too! From bacon jalapeno mac and cheese to hush puppies and corn fritters.
As for the food, customers love what Larry's making and he loves making it.
