News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Samantha Augeri says there is a shower threat for the weekend.
WHAT'S NEW: An Air Quality Alert has been posted for Long Island Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. It will be very warm and a little hazy at times.
WHAT'S NEXT: Showers and the chance of a thunderstorm Friday evening into Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon and Sunday are trending drier with a storm farther to our east but it will still be much cooler and a little unsettled with clouds and a passing shower.
HURRICANE SEASON STARTS TODAY: Tropical Depression Two has developed in the Gulf of Mexico
OVERNIGHT: Mostly clear and mild with patchy fog. Lows near 58. Sunrise: 5:23
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny and very warm with highs near 83. Chance for scattered showers and a thunderstorm late in the day. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Sunset: 8:18.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy with the chance for showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Lows near 57. South to northeast winds 5 to 15 mph.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy and cooler with the chance for showers in the morning. Most of the afternoon looks dry. Highs near 66. Mostly cloudy at night with lows near 52.
