Teenager seriously injured in e-bike crash involving deer in East Islip

A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured in an e-bike crash when he collided with a deer on Thursday in East Islip.

The teenager was operating the e-bike northbound on Woodland Drive near Gwendolyn Place when he struck a deer in the roadway at 5:42 p.m., according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

He was transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Islip with serious injuries.

The e-bike was impounded for a safety check, police say.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
