Police are investigating a crash in Port Jefferson Station that left a 16-year-old passenger dead and a teen driver in custody Wednesday.
Witnesses say the car was traveling on Half-Mile Road shortly before midnight Tuesday when it hit a parked van and flipped over. According to witnesses, the Jaws of Life was needed to pull the female victim out of the car. Two other backseat passengers were also in the car and treated for injuries at Stony Brook University Medical Center.
Police won?t release the identity of the 16-year-old victim until they contact her family. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old driver of the car, Vincent Cocco, of Centereach, has been charged with DWI.
