Swimming resumes at Jones Beach following shark sightings

Swimmers were allowed back in the water at Jones Beach Wednesday following Tuesday's shark sightings.
News 12 obtained an exclusive video of sharks off Jones Beach on Tuesday morning.
State park police tell News 12 there were increased patrols on the shore and in the sky from drones.
There were multiple sightings of sharks with schools of bait fish that were 300 to 400 feet out at the West and East bathhouses.
Tips on how to avoid confrontation with sharks while swimming in the ocean Patrols have also been increased after a shark attack in the Rockaways left a woman in serious condition Monday.
News 12 has learned the FDNY commissioner joined the drone patrols on Wednesday.
Long Islanders, however, say they are not too concerned about the recent shark sighting and bites.
“It’s their beach, it’s our beach, we got to work around it,” says Elizabeth Mancini, of Wantagh. “If they tell you to stay out of the water today, stay out of the water.”
Drones and shark patrols will be continuing at the beach.
