A new list from shows just how high the cost of living is on Long Island. The list of the top 20 most expensive places to live in New York is dominated by Long Island communities. Sands Point, Old Westbury, Muttontown, Lloyd Harbor and Manhasset make up the top five. Nick Orlando, an associate broker with Compass Real Estate, says this shouldn't come as a surprise considering the demand for homes outweighs the supply. According to the list from gobankingrates.com, Long Island towns also make up 9 of the top 10 and 16 of the top 20 most expensive places to live in New York.
